An Example of Our Work

ISSUE:

We worked with the board of directors for a Non Profit Agency to help them in their first strategic planning board retreat. The board had a major decision to make, but couldn't seem to come into agreement on which direction was best. This decision impacted the finances and future of their organization. For six months they created goals and agendas to appease each of the five board committees, yet none of the goals were accomplished because of the personal agendas that competed against their main goal: providing meals for the thousands of underserved families in their region with dignity, honor, and respect.

SOLUTION:

We facilitated a board retreat to help them refocus on their mission. Our One S.T.E.P. Vision Execution Playbook was used to help them see how they each contribute to the problem they are trying to solve. As they saw the connection between their unproductive efforts and the risk of the organization closing, we came up with their "Bowling Ball" approach, which led them to create one strategic move that united and aligned the roles of each committee and leader. With a few leadership changes, they were able to combine 5 goals into one major goal that they all bought into.

IMPACT:

The board elected a new chairman and CEO to lead their strategy. The board gave more day to day oversight to the executive director, giving the CEO more time to focus on scaling the organization. They were able to obtain new funding from a new donor and are utilizing our customized Playbook to guide their meetings and action plan.
